I think this action research plan is an awesome idea it seems like if you can catch any "problem" early enough in life you can fix it in the long run. Why should this be any different for our students and in their learning achievement? I really like this research plan and it seems like your step by step approach will really turn out to be a successful one. I would like to hear how this turns out please keep us updated!
ReplyDeleteShawnda, your action research plan looks awesome!! I completely agree with Josh, if we van prevent the problem from occuring, we would have a lot less at-risk students. Obviously, we are missing something or we would not currently have at-risk students. One suggestion- perhaps implementing teacher interviews to see what they are doing now within the classroom. Also, interiews with students to see what they think could be done to prevent at-risk- and then try those strategies out and see if you receive success. Can't wait to see your results!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great, Shawnda! I'm in the middle of a 20-hour bus certification class this week, and I had to deal with a contractor tonight (we had softball sized hail in June). I'll give you some more in depth notes later!
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! Your plan is very clear and concise! So this is probably unnecessary but in case you are looking for something to use in the week 4 assignment, here goes being WAY picky - After #3 strategize a plan, would you want to add a step on how you will implement the plan?
ReplyDeleteNice job Shawnda! Your plan is easily followed. Your plan to strategize with the 3rd grade teachers will allow for good collaboration. I believe it's beneficial to identify and work with students who maybe at risk as well. Can't wait to hear of your findings!
ReplyDeleteAre you planning on doing the same intervention with the same frequency for each group of students? Are you going to split the group of students you're studying into smaller groups -- like by ethnicity? How do you plan to monitor the intervention sessions? How are you going to pick the students?
